Chelsea Football Club has announced the official squad numbers for its players for the upcoming 2023/24 season. The club's summer signings have been assigned new squad numbers, while several existing players have made changes to their shirt numbers.
Newcomer Mykhailo Mudryk has inherited the coveted number 10 shirt, previously worn by Eden Hazard and most recently Willian. Joao Felix will wear the number 11, the same number he held at previous club Atletico Madrid. Benoit Badiashile has been assigned the number 4, while Noni Madueke will wear the number 15.
Among the existing players making shirt number changes, Hakim Ziyech will now wear the number 7, previously held by N'Golo Kante. Mateo Kovacic has taken the number 8, which was worn by Ross Barkley last season. Reece James has switched to the number 2, while Ben Chilwell will don the number 3.
The updated squad numbers reflect the club's ongoing rebuild under new ownership. Chelsea have invested heavily in the transfer market in recent months, bringing in a number of exciting young players who are expected to play key roles in the team's future success.
