AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (AMC) reported a net loss of $459 million for the first quarter of 2024, wider than the $344 million loss in the same quarter a year ago. The company attributed the loss to lower attendance and higher expenses. Revenue for the quarter was $909.2 million, down from $1.1 billion in the same quarter last year.
AMC said it had 30.5 million active members in its loyalty program as of March 31, 2024, up from 24.2 million a year ago. The company also said it had reduced its debt by $600 million since the end of 2023.
AMC's stock price has been volatile in recent months, but it has been trending higher in recent weeks. The stock closed at $12.33 on May 12, 2024, up from $10.50 at the end of April.
